English Small-bore Shooting Union (ESSU)

We are the Governing Body responsible for selecting teams to represent England in the disciplines of small-bore rifle, air rifle, air pistol and 50m pistol shooting, primarily for the Commonweath Games but also for annual Home Countries International competitions.   We have over 200 active (shooting) members, many of whom have represented England or who aspire to do so, plus many members who do not participate in competitive shooting but nevertheless wish to support England shooting, in particular with the development of Juniors and our Academies.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

This website is due to be transferred to a new hosting service on 1st September 2026.  The 'Working Name' of the Organisation will become "England Shooting", which is essentially what is displayed on our garments.  Our 'Official' name will remain as English Smallbore Shooting Union (ESSU), and there are no imminent changes to our Constitution, our banking arrangement or other formal arrangements. 

A new domain has been registered englandshooting.org.uk, which will be used for operational emails and the new website.  

The current site: www.essu.org.uk will continue to be fully active until the AGM 1st September where it will then be mirroring www.englandshooting.org.uk

ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIPS 2026

The organising committee are pleased to invite you to enter the English Open 25m Air Championships to be held at Lord Roberts Centre, Bisley,    on 5th - 6th September 2026

The organising committee are pleased to invite you to enter the English Open 10m Air Championships to be held at Lord Roberts Centre, Bisley,    on 28th - 29th November 2026
The competition comprises two British Shooting nominated ISSF 10m rifle and pistol competitions, each with finals. 
As always, there is a discount for junior athletes and also a discount for members.
