Rule Authority
The NSRA Sporter rifle rules(2013) will apply, as modified by these rules to this Championship.
Statutory liability
All persons attending this Meeting are reminded of their statutory liability in respect of their possession and handling of firearms and ammunition Although this competition uses Air Rifles only Firearms Law still applies to their use at all times. Competitors are required to make a declaration on the entry form that they are entitled to use the type and class of firearm for the competition(s). Acceptance of an entry is conditional on the declarations being signed by each competitor. The Organising Committee reserves the right to examine this authorisation and refuse to accept an entry where this cannot be proven.
Course of fire
The Championships will take the form of a series of relays to be fired on supplied strip targets at 10m on ‘Whizzer’ lanes. 40 Match shots are to be fired in 65 minutes. Athletes will be called to the line 20 minutes before the published Start Time of each relay, and be allowed 10 minutes ‘setup’ time plus 10 minutes in which to fire unlimited sighting shots on specially marked sighting cards. The CRO will give a 30 second warning before the end of Sighting Time at which point the sighting cards must be replaced with the first MATCH card, so as to be ready to fire after the command “START”.
Eligibility for English Championship Titles
The Championships will be fired in two classes; ‘Open’ and ‘Under 16’. The ‘Open’ class is for all comers. The U16 event is for those Juniors who are under sixteen years of age on the date of the competition. Competitors who are under 16 can elect to shoot in the open class if they desire, but only one class can be entered. The competitor with the highest score in each class will be declared English Sporter Champion or English Junior Sporter Champion.
Entries
Entries must be made on the official entry form, but this may be copied or downloaded from this website. Only one entry is allowed for each competitor.
Squadding Notices, Firing-Points and Results
All classes will be squadded. Relays will be allocated on a first come first served basis. All Competitors will be sent a Squadding Notice by e-mail which will state their Name, Competitor Number, and Start Time of the relay for the competitions entered. It is the responsibility of each competitor to be ready to be ‘Called to the Line’ at their designated firing-point 20 minutes before their allocated Start Time. Latecomers may fire on their allocated firing-point, including Sighting shots if Match firing has commenced, but no additional time will be allowed. Otherwise, the event may only be fired at the discretion of the Organisers provided that there is a spare firing point available and a valid reason why the allocated time was not adhered to.
Firing points will be allocated by the Championship Organiser and displayed on the noticeboard at the rear of the range. The Chief Range Officer has the authority to re-allocate firing-points as necessary.
The scores from each relay will be ranked, with the highest score winning the Championship in each Class. There will be no Final. Targets are to be named and numbered and shot in number order. They must be handed to the Range officials at the end of the match. Scores will be full-ring (integer) values.
Posting of Results, Challenges and Protests
Scores will be posted on the Championships notice board as soon as practicable after all cards from that relay have been scored, and will show the time of publication. These will be ranked and marked “INTERIM RESULT” until such time as all relays have finished, when all scores will be ranked and a “FINAL RESULT” for each Class will be posted After the Meeting has closed, all results will be available for downloading from the ESSU Website – www.essu.org.uk
Allocation of Prizes and Medals
English Championships
The Title of ‘English Champion’ and a gold medal will be awarded to eligible competitors in each Championship event. Medals will be awarded subject to the following:
1 to 5 Competitors “Gold” medal only.
5 to 8 Competitors “Gold” and “Silver”medals.
9 or more Competitors “Gold” “Silver” and “Bronze” medals.
Commemorative certificates will be presented to the top three competitors in each event.
Challenges
The shot targets will all be scored Electronically and there will be no opportunity to challenge the score values. The organisers will decide the value of any doubtful shots.
Verbal protests
These may be made and decided on the ranges immediately by the Range Officer or Chief Range Officer. If the protest is resolved to the satisfaction of all concerned, then no further action is necessary, and a brief report of the circumstances may be made by the RO to the Organising Committee if considered justified. If the matter is not resolved it can be appealed to the Match Director who after consideration will make a final binding decision.
Data Protection Act 1998 Notice
Data on entrants will be held on a personal computer by the ESSU, for the purposes of maintaining its Register of Competitors and the publishing of results. This data will only comprise a Name, Nationality, contact telephone or e-mail address, and the scores achieved. The Competition Organiser is the designated representative under the Act. By entering the Championships and signing the entry form you are giving consent for the ESSU to keep and use information about you for this purpose. The entry-forms containing your details will be retained in their original form for a period of 2 years after the Championships. Results will be maintained by electronic means indefinitely for the purposes of future reference and maintaining historical records, and as such will be displayed on the ESSU website. The website display will be confined to a table of results showing a Name, Nationality and scores achieved for each competition entered. Individuals who do not wish their full name to be displayed on the website must indicate this in the appropriate place on the entry form. In this case, results will display your initials and Country only.
